    • The true title of this article should be:

      • A Hypothesis About the Motherland of the Proto-Germanic Language

    • According to the hypothesis, the motherland of Proto-Germanic should be located somewhere in South Europe, close to Greek.

    • The starting point of the propagation of Germanic was located somewhere in South Europe.

    • In particlular, the Gothic language has always lived in South Europe.

    • The term arthromania has been introduced to denote the language feature of definiteness in grammar.
    • It is used as an argument to the thesis.

    • The Orthodox Christianity was involved in the explanation of the disappearance and extinction of Germanic in South Europe.
    • This may be considered as another hypothesis.

///// Why-dont-Slavic-languages-have-definite-indefinite-articles/answer/Christo-Tamarin Q.: Why don't Slavic languages have definite/indefinite articles? A.: .. I have coined the term arthromania for this linguistic features: having definite/indefinite articles. The arthromania is an areal feature, specific for this part of the world: Mediterranean, the Middle East, West Europe. The arthromania spread in its area as an infection. Most languages within that area were infected. However, most Slavic languages showed immunity. The infection first appeared either in Egyptian or in Canaanite. The first European language infected was Greek. Greek was infected from Phoenician which was a dialect of Canaanite. Please note that the following features of our civilization were taken from Phoenicians: money alphabet and letters and now, arthromania All European arthromaniac languages took that infection from Greek, directly or indirectly. Proto-Slavic made an unsuccessful attempt to implement the arthromania, the infection taken from German. All modern Slavic languages show traces of that unsuccessful attempt. In some modern Slavic languages (Serbian, e.g.) those traces show a partial implementation of the arthromania. However, Russian and Polish are totally free of arthromania. Balkano-Slavic (Bulgarian) implemented the arthromania successfully in full extent, the infection taken directly from Greek in the Balkansprachbund. /////
